Warm-up
In this lesson, your tutor will help you go over this topic: Vacation. First, go over the following vocabulary and expressions with your tutor. Read the word/expression and definition out loud, and your tutor will go over anything you do not understand. Practice creating a sentence or two to make sure you know how to use the word/expression properly.

Souvenir | A keepsake from your travels e.g. My mom always buys teaspoons as souvenirs. |

Long weekend | An extended weekend, usually 3-4 days long e.g. My family is not going anywhere for the long weekend this time. |

Book a hotel | Reserve a room in a hotel for your travel e.g. I did not book a room until the weekend before the trip. |

Family outing | a brief trip that people take for fun usually as a group e.g. We went on a backpacking outing. |

Getaway | a short vacation e.g. We’re planning a weekend getaway to the mountains. |
Conversation
Use the following questions as a guideline to form an interesting conversation with your tutor. Feel free to diverge from these suggestions if anything interesting comes up.
- Describe your last vacation.
- How do you feel after a long vacation?
- Did you spend a lot of money on your last vacation? How much did you spend on which items?
- Did you encounter any problems during your vacation? If you did, describe them.
- What was the food like?
- Why did you decide to visit that place?
- What kind of accommodation do you prefer, and why?
- Where was the most exotic place you ever visited? Describe your experience.
- What was the most interesting thing you did during the holiday?
- Do you usually buy souvenirs when going on vacations? If you do, what kind of souvenirs do you like most? If you don’t, why not?
