TOEIC lesson 21: Computers

Directions

In this lesson, your tutor will help you go over a type-3 question from TOEIC speaking test. Read the following question out loud and give your answer in your own words first.

Directions: In this part of the test, you will answer three questions. For each question, begin responding immediately. No preparation time is provided. You will have 15 seconds to respond to Question 4 and 5 and 30 seconds to respond to Question 6.

Question 4

Imagine that a French marketing firm is doing research in your country. You have agreed to participate in a telephone interview about computers.

How long do you use your personal or work computer each day?

  1. How to answer questions that start with “How long…?”
    • More/less than 3 hours a day (=per day)

Q4: As a working professional, I spend at least 6 hours a day on my computer on weekdays. However, on weekends, I spend about an hour or two a day watching movies and playing games.

Q5: I think the brand and model of the computer is the most important feature when I buy a new computer. As a graphic designer, I am used to the Mac interface, so I usually get the latest model of MacBook with the maximum spec.

Q6: I spend most of my time on the computer writing and designing for work and personal projects. When I am at home after work or on the weekends, I watch movies on Netflix and listen to music on Spotify. Of course, I use my computer to do practical things such as checking emails, online banking, and browsing the web.
