Vocabulary/ Expressions

Expression Definition
early (n) at or near the beginning of a period of time or a process, activity, series, etc.
e.g. I got up early to finish packing.
draw (v) to make (a picture, image, etc.) by making lines on a surface especially with a pencil, pen, marker, chalk, etc., but not usually with paint
e.g. I like drawing pictures with pencils. 
novel (n) a long written story usually about imaginary characters and events
e.g. I like reading novels before I go to bed. 
horror (adj) intended to cause feelings of fear
e.g. She likes watching horror movies. 
collect (v) to get (things) from different places and bring them together
e.g. Do you like collecting antique books? 
pudding (n) a thick, sweet, soft, and creamy food that is usually eaten cold at the end of a meal
e.g. Does he like eating pudding
Americano (n) a cup of coffee made with espresso (=strong black Italian coffee) and hot water
e.g. She likes ordering an Americano when she goes to the cafe. 
ride (v) to sit on and control the movements of (a horse, motorcycle, bicycle, etc.)
e.g. He likes riding his bike to school. 
coffee (n) a dark brown drink made from ground coffee beans and boiled water
e.g. He likes to drink coffee when he wakes up. 
tea (n) a drink that is made by soaking the dried leaves of an Asian plant in hot water
e.g. They like drinking tea when they hang out.
